I designed this poster to work on print experience. I was inspired by tarot cards and stained-glass windows, and incorporated elements of both in my design. The final design on 11x17” Polar White cardstock from Red River, which allowed the colors to really pop.

process
I started the process by sketching out a basic idea before switching to Illustrator. I went through several versions of the poster in Illustrator as I worked on placing the stained-glass cuts and developing the details on the crow. Once I finished the overall placement and design, I hand-painted the poster in Photoshop to give it a more realistic stained-glass effect.

Working on this design helped me understand the importance of test prints. The first few prints had flaws that weren’t easily seen until they were printed at full siz.e
